Les chromosomes artificiels de levure (Yeast Artificial Chromosomes ou YAC en abrégé) sont très utilisés dans les techniques de biologie moléculaire et le sont, parfois, en génétique.

  • séquence télomérique + centromérique
  • fragments étrangers de très grande taille (300 kb à 1Mb)
  • a permis la première carte physique du génome humain

INTERET: on peut isoler des grands gènes ainsi que leurs sequences régulatrices PROBLEME:Instable
